The decision was made after Resso was removed from Google Play and Apple App Store by the order of the Government of India.
Resso stop its music streaming service in India
In March 2020, TikTok parent company ByteDance launched Resso in India, Indonesia and Brazil. Resso started subscription based service in India in last May for users. At the first Resso offered both free and plan based subscription service on Resso to stream music in various genres and different languages.
In july last year ByteDance announced to shut down of Resso in Brazil and Indonesia and launched TikTok Music in both country. In last october TikTok Music launched in Australia, Singapore and Mexico. According to the MoneyControl report company does not have plan to launch TikTok Music in India. If we see another factor Indian government banned TikTok in June 2020 along with 58 other chinese-owned apps.
A verified user A/One Sam Rapper on Resso shared this screenshot with us and you can see in this screenshot, users will not be able to play songs including both online and offline by the end of January. You do not have to worry about it if you have premium subscription on Resso app, your remaining refund fess will be initiated on 31st Jan to your account or it can take up to 7 business days as company said.
Currently if you search Resso app on Google Play Store and Apple App Store it is not available as first noted by Moneycontrol. Users still can listen to the songs till 31st Jan because it is still active for users who have the Resso app but cannot purchase any subscription on Resso platform.
Resso competed National and International companies in India such as Amazon Music, Spotify, YouTube Music, JioSaavn, Gaana and Wynk among others.
In conclusion, Resso will discontinue its music streaming service in India by the 31st of January after removing Resso app from Google Play Store and Apple App Store following the order of Indian Government.
